The origin of Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, the son of Gladys and Vernon Elvis Presley. His family tree goes back to two great-great-grandfathers, whose first known ancestors Samuel and Jane Presley lived in Mecklenburg, Virginia in the 17th century.

From his wealthy and influential family and their distant European connections, Elvis inherited unique musical talent and charisma. He began his career as a singer in 1953 and soon became a star.

Within his first five years in the spotlight, Elvis had several hits with worldwide fame such as "Heartbreak Hotel", "Love Me Tender" and "Hound Dog". He also had some significant performances, which include the famous Pelvis Shake at the "Ed Sullivan Show" in 1956.

The rest of his career witnessed tremendous success. Elvis released many more hits, appeared in 33 movies and ignored most taboos. He made rock 'n' roll a version of cultivated pop music and achieved worldwide fame.

Elvis spent the last years of his life heavily intoxicated and exhausted by his global popularity. Although increasingly out of control in the last years of his life, he was still one of the most important figures in pop culture. Elvis passed away on August 16, 1977.

His legacy as an artist is unparalleled, and Elvis is considered one of the most influential members of music history. His music was unique, and while he may not have been the first to sing rock and roll, he took it in a new direction that others subsequently copied and cultivated.

Elvis Presley's legacy goes much further than his music. He maintained cordial relationships with most of the most beloved artists of the 20th century and changed the world with his philanthropic donations. He also founded an innovative company that was very successful at the time.

Nearly 40 years after his death, Elvis is still one of the most important musicians in popular culture and an absolute idol for millions of fans around the world. Although Elvis is dead, his legacy lives on through his groundbreaking work, and he stands as an uninterrupted inspiration to popular music and culture in general.

Elvis Presley had mainly German, Scottish, Irish and French ancestors, and one ancestor was Cherokee. DNA tests proved his descent from Native Americans and from German emigrants from the Palatinate.

Elvis Presley belonged to haplogroup I2 (subgroup probably I-F2044) in the paternal line and to haplogroup B in the maternal line.
