The Jacob Surname Project

Description:

The Jacob(s) Surname DNA Project is open to persons desiring to prove a connection to John Jacob, Sr., 17th century immigrant to Anne Arundel County, Maryland. The five-fold purpose of the project is to: 1. Establish a method of linking descendants of John Jacob, Sr. of South River, Maryland as a reliable adjunct to documentary research;2. Better identify the person, John Jacob;3. Validate various Jacob(s) genealogies that rely on circumstantial evidence;4. To substantiate or refute long asserted connections to certain English lines; and5. To serve as an impetus for expanded research regarding ancient and related lines beyond America. To participate, persons must provide the Jacob Group Administrator their paternal lineage so that test results may be used to identify common ancestors by name. Furthermore lineages will be useful to researchers constructing family trees. The project will also assist other Jacob(s) families unrelated to John Jacob. Several unrelated Jacob(s) families are participants. Please contact the group admininistrator for assistance. In the 'Why do you want to join this project?' window below, please briefly describe what is known or believed of your paternal ancestry (names, dates, and locale).
